Whenever someone wants to discuss joining us at Impowered Fitness, we always have a goal-setting discussion. Have you ever had one for yourself? This helps you with clarity of what you desire for yourself and defines your ‘why’ to help get and keep you motivated. We generally talk about your long-term and short-term goals.
If your goal happens to be losing 20 pounds, it could take 6 months and that’s a long time. It is very doable and many of my clients have achieved this goal.
However, to get there it could look daunting and overwhelming at the start. So, I ask my clients to break it down into shorter, smaller, and more frequent victories. And we track them and celebrate them.
Who doesn’t want to have more victories more often? I sure do. This approach works! Over and over, it works. One of our most popular intro programs lasts only 21 days, so that seems to be a good place to start. So, I’ll usually ask, “what improvements do you want to make in the next three weeks, and what would have to happen to make it a reality?”
Losing 5-10 pounds, having a flatter stomach, feeling younger or having more energy, changing a bad habit, improving your mindset for life, are all some really great goals.
Any of these can be accomplished in a short time frame even following your plan about 80% of the time (because nobody’s perfect and you don’t have to be to make some really fantastic improvements).
So, with a new month around the corner, I’ll ask you: What do you desire for yourself with your overall health and fitness 3 weeks from now, and what has to happen for you to get there?
