I’m not sure most of us think of things this way, but today is really just your life in a nutshell. In fact, the average American lives about 27,500 days. If you’re 35, you may have fewer than 15,000 of them left. I’m not telling you this to be morbid or anything. I am telling you this because once a day is spent, you don’t get it back.
You can take the days that were deposited in your account when you were born and invest them in activities that make you happier and healthier. Or you can invest them in activities (or inactivities) that deteriorate your quality of life and, in the worst case may even shorten it. You can be an action-taker or a procrastinator (“I’ll go to the gym later. I’ll start next week. I’ll cut out the sweets and junk food next month”… )
You can surround yourself with supportive people who want to lift you up and help you achieve your goals, or with energy vampires who don’t have your best interests at heart. Today is the currency we’re each gifted with to invest in how we choose to build the body and health that we want. If you don’t like how you’re spending it, change it.
Don’t settle for having a body and lifestyle that you don’t love, or wishing that you could have more or be more. Invest each day in what you want. Surround yourself with those you want to be with. Positive people whose company you enjoy and who lift you up. Treat each day as if it’s 1,440 minutes you have to invest in YOU being happier and healthier. And you only get to spend them today, there’s no saving them up for a rainy day.
So win today. It’s the best investment you can make.
