How many times in the last week or the past couple of months have you said out loud or thought to yourself: “I need to change (insert behavior or habit)”.
Are you still saying it to yourself with nothing different happening or did you make the change? Change can be hard, but it’s not impossible. If you keep saying it to yourself, there is usually a deep reason that it needs to happen.
Could be;
– Health or disease
– Relationship
– Job or career
– Destructive habit
Whatever it is, you know why. As humans, we struggle with getting out of our own way and living a little uncomfortable. Even if it means the outcome is positive. Keep in mind that Good things usually take effort, time, persistence, patience, coaching, and a plan. But the reward for the effort can be life-changing.
What it comes down to is this: “If you really want to change, your actions have to match.”
Your actions have to be congruent with your wants. Otherwise, you can forget about getting what you want. For example, If you want weight loss, smaller jeans, flat stomach, or just want to get back into your current wardrobe comfortably, and you keep eating fast food and over drinking and not working out regularly, Its not going to happen.
You can say it all you want but it won’t change.
Makes sense, right?
Look, if you want to change your life you have to stop thinking about it. You have to stop planning for it. You have to stop complaining (you are probably driving the people around you nuts) and stop “trying”. In the words of Master Yoda….. “Do! Or do not. There is no try.”
Go ahead, right now, TRY to stand up (or sit down if you’re standing). You don’t try to stand up. You stand up! When you start, it’s all too easy to get caught up in preparation and planning. We want to make sure that everything is just perfect, that the time is right, and all the planets are lined up just so etc.
However, these are just excuses and procrastination.
Be wary of procrastination. It’s just fear in disguise.
Your fear is usually unwarranted and put in place by your mind to avoid being uncomfortable and dong the work to really get what you want.
Let’s put this all in a short summary for your success:
1. If it’s on your mind all the time to make a change, don’t ignore it. Examine it and get ready to take action on it.
2. Eliminate all of the procrastination words from your vocabulary starting now; Should, try, want, if, etc.
3. Make an easy plan and Just Start!! You don’t need to be elaborate, just take action, and make changes as you go.
4- Start now. Get a support buddy, team, or Coach for accountability and motivation and GO!!!
Until you move into action, nothing happens! Commit to taking ACTION towards your goals today.
