Every day we are getting bombarded with negativity. News, COVID updates, community issues, work, financial, etc.; and, we are getting hit from every source. Can you look at your Facebook or other media without seeing a rant, a negative post, something about death, or how horrible 2020 is? Not likely.
I don’t know about you but after too much of this, it seriously affects me. Could be a general mood. You may start making comments about someone’s negative comment, and pretty soon, you feel crappy and you may not even know why. Just like millions of other people, maybe you included, I am affected by the corporate closures, a shift in work, struggle to pivot my business, total shift in life. But….
I have a choice every day and so do you. We can read, listen, and be pulled down by the negativity or focus on the positive by looking for opportunities to change our energy. It sounds typical and sort of cliche; however, if you want to make a change in your life…It is an absolute must to think and speak with positivity.
I don’t mean be a walking motivational quote. I mean start thinking and speaking like you are taking the actions to make a change. When you have a negative thought, acknowledge it then dismiss it because it doesn’t help you. It keeps you stuck.
Instead of I can’t lose weight, I never have. Shift your thoughts and words to “I am focusing on my food and exercising with a coach or group as a regular part of my life and I am now making the change.”
Instead of saying and thinking “everything sucks” and finding things to validate that comment so you can stay in a negative mindset, try this. Start adding gratitude to your morning ritual, stop watching the crap TV, and listen to people who are uplifting, be aware of your thoughts, and learn how to make a positive difference.
Here is 1 big Tip. === It’s hard to go from full negative to full positive. It takes awareness, dedication, and practice. It’s like eating a diet of cheeseburgers, fries, and cookies and shifting to chicken, broccoli, and rice at the next meal. It’s hard to shift all at once.
Find a neutral place.
– Instead of speaking negative comments, don’t make one at all.
– Instead of dwelling on negative thoughts, be aware when they pop in and replace them with something positive.
– Instead of staying engaged with negative people and stories, choose to turn it off. Even if you don’t replace it with something positive, you removed yourself from the negative.
Start being aware of what you are thinking, watching, and listening too, and gradually replace it as needed to support your happiness. You will feel a change and you will be prepared to act on making changes that last. We only get one pass through this life so you have to choose how you want to live it.
The beauty is that no matter what else is happening in this world, we are IMpowered to choose our attitude, beliefs, and actions.
Until Next time…
