Today is Your Day. What will you do with it?
A question many of us usually give little thought to on a regular basis. Besides, work, chores, kids, schooling, “to do’ list, etc. How often do you really think about the significance of your day?
Consider this perspective…
- The average American lives about 27,500 days (approx. 75 years)
- If you are 40 years old, you have an estimated 12,900 days left.
My goal here is not to be morbid, and I know there are a lot of others factors out of our control and other things happen in life.
I am sharing this with you because once a day is spent – you don’t get it back.
On average you’re born with about 27,500 deposited in your ‘life’ account to spend as you choose. You can invest them sitting around watching the clock pass, spending time raising kids, building a business, going to a job punching the clock and repeating the same thing the next day, or living fully at every possible moment. You can also invest them in experiences with those you care about or spend them saying “tomorrow I will do this” or “I will wait for another time when things are better” (How many times in the past 3 months have you said that?)
Today is the day we are each gifted with to invest, spend, and experience how we choose.
Today I am spending my time helping my clients get healthy and make changes they want in their lives, sharing my knowledge and experience in my non-profit (Empowered Youth Life Style) teaching teens how to live a healthy lifestyle, and being present with my family.
In my world, that’s a good today.
If you don’t like how you are spending today, change it. Yes, it’s that simple!
Here are some tips and things to think about:
- You are in charge, you are in control, it’s your story……You can be the author or let someone else write it for you.
- Don’t spend your ‘Today’ settling. Being ‘IMpowered” means “I Am” which is an action statement. Not an “I Wish, I hope, I want”…. I AM!
- Invest each day in what you want to do. Personally and professionally. Time is a commodity that we all get equally.
- We all get the same 24 Hours and once they are gone, they are gone.
- Surround yourself with those you want to be with…and who want to be with you.
- There is no saving for a rainy day.
So be in the moment, live with intention, and do the thing now that you have been putting off until tomorrow. Today is the only day that counts.
