Happy Holidays And Happy Weight gain season – — well, actually, No weight gain is happy.
No doubt you are aware of the statistic, either by hearing it or experiencing it, Every year people gain between 5 and 10 (or more) pounds of weight right now during the fat season (Halloween through New Years). Yikes!!! Why??
You work hard all year to get conditioned, feel good, get healthy, lose weight, spend your precious time on Not gaining weight, etc. and in a short couple of months, “Poof” it’s gone and now you have to start over. Its mentally and emotionally draining. Not to mention the efforts of the first couple workouts back.
Why do we do this over and over?
We get complacent, lazy, make excuses and think we won’t enjoy the holidays without extra deserts and high-calorie meals, it suddenly is a lesser priority than the perceived happiness and joy from parties and cookies, etc. Would you do this for the rest of the year to feel happy and joyful? Not likely.
Here are a couple things to consider to help you stay on track and joyful this season.
1- Joyfulness is not linked to food! – It comes from gratitude, giving, and serving others.
2- Happiness comes from your inner strength of doing healthy things for yourself, even if it’s saying no to foods that you think you want at the moment because others are indulging, but know it will make you feel lousy afterward. How many times have you said, “I wish I wouldn’t have eaten or drunk that much”?
3- You are Empowered to steer your own path and fight through anyone else’s opinion who doesn’t align with you taking good care of yourself. (the bad influencers) The only opinion that matters is yours!
4- Be good to yourself. You deserve it!!! As much as you may hate working out, think of how good you feel afterward. “That workout was a waste of time….said nobody ever who put in a little effort” – keep up with at least a quick workout or some exercise daily. Simple and quick.
5-Be the leader in your circle of influence. People follow the strong and determined, especially if you show you are on a mission of goodness. They follow you or you follow them. Which path is better for you?
6-Share the gift of health with your family. Be aware of what you all are eating and get out for a walk, play games, make a circuit workout that everyone can do, have a fun challenge. Make it fun and inclusive of all ages. A group creates good energy. (We ate a rich Italian meal in Balboa and then went for a good walk to look at Christmas lights. Good family time and good activity after dinner)
You can do it. Please share back with the group or just me and I will share any tips or things you have done to stay on track this season.
Have a healthy day, see you soon.
