Greetings IMpowered Ladies!
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas with your families and friends. We certainly did! And yes, I ate more cookies than I anticipated. Well sort of. I planned on eating cookies so I plugged in quick workouts each day to ensure I was offsetting or at least countering the extra sugar and calories…….How did you do with the calorie balance??
This is a “tweener” week which usually means your normal routine and schedule may be messed up. That’s OK, but its not an excuse to skip your workout or activity.
For all who chose to participate in the “I am not a statistic challenge” you still have this week and through the 4th to get on track if needed, Plenty of time if you make the time.
*** Today’s tip, ‘Make the time’
We can all fill our schedules with busy-ness, running around doing small tasks and of course the Social Media time spent (or wasted).
But the real question is Are you organized and Owning your time or is it just passing by with you squeezing in as much as you can thinking you did great and still leave you feeling swamped?
Here are a couple tips to maximize your time and ensure you have the “ME Time” for exercise and taking care of yourself.
1 – Each night, Make a list of all the “to do” items for the next day. This prepares you for success and eliminates that early morning mental scramble of trying to cram it all in first thing in the am giving you the feeling of being overwhelmed before your day even gets started.
2 – Put your exercise or ‘Me Time’ on your list and calendar as an appointment that you Cannot miss!
3 – Make the me time a priority. Its easy to skip the workout time with “I’m just too busy”. Are you really? Are you too busy for being healthy, strong and full of energy to be more productive? Busy is an overused excuse. Listen to other people talk and you will hear this over and over.
4 – Prioritize your list and stick to it. If you list top to bottom the ‘must get done’ followed by the ‘nice to get done’ and if you need too, carve out a specific time for your social media. Social Media is the biggest unrealized time waster of teens and adults. Start tracking and being aware of your email and social media time spent. I bet you will be surprised.
When I feel overwhelmed, I sit down and make the list. Then I arrange it accordingly with a target time schedule and priorities. Its amazing how much Time you can Make when you give it the effort. You may even find yourself with Free Time that you didnt think you had available. Nice Job if you do. Take some additional Me Time.
Let’s keep the momentum through the New Year.
P.S. – If you need a quick home workout, try a simple circuit. You can make this work within 15 minutes. Here is how:
1. Choose a few exercises, mix in the ones that are full body that you don’t like (I can already hear you….I don’t like those…but your body does)
2. Set your timer or clock and perform 10 exercises for 20 seconds with 10 seconds rest in between each one. —- One set is only 5 minutes!
3. Go through your exercise list 2-3 times. This is only 15 minutes and if you gave it your full effort you will feel great. and you are Done!
Here is a sample List ( I did this yesterday and it was great) –
Push ups (as many as possible for the 20 seconds) any style
Squat jumps
Jump Rope (if no rope, do Mountain climbers or jogging jacks)
Lunges Left side only- Lunges Right side only
Jump Rope (again to keep my heart rate up)
Chair dips
Plank variation (no movement or shift forward and back or side to side or plank jack… you get the idea)
Jump Rope / Jog Jacks- Squat jumps
Rinse and Repeat as many times as possible. Its only 5 minutes per set…..You got this!
Let me know your routine if you changed it up.
Have a super day, stay focused, you are IMpowered!
